Cathy Clopton joined the firm in 1987 after working in the banking industry for 10 years. She became a CPA in 1980 after completing her bachelor`s degree in accounting from Baylor University in 1976. She manages the day-to-day operations of the firm, as well as works with clients in the preparation of their tax returns and financial statements. She currently maintains memberships in the Texas Society of CPAs and the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs.

A sixth-generation member of a pioneer Garland family, Cathy has always taken an interest in community and civic affairs. She has served on the Board of Hope Clinic of Garland, Inc., the Garland Chamber of Commerce, and New Beginning Center as well as on various GISD, City of Garland, PTA and church committes. She married her high-school sweetheart, Rick Clopton, after they both graduated from Baylor. They have two daughters, both with health care careers (no more accountants from this generation!), two granddaughters, and a grandson.

Rick Clopton joined L. B. Nicholson, CPA in 1985 after working in the steel and oil/gas industries for 9 years. He became a CPA in 1982 after completing his bachelor`s degree in accounting from Baylor University in 1976. He works with clients in the preparation of their tax returns and assists clients as their need for financial planning arises. He currently maintains memberships in the Texas Society of CPAs, the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs.

Having lived in Garland since he was 14 months old, Rick has also taken an interest in community and civic affairs. He has served on the Boards of Trustees for Baylor Specialty Hospital, Garland Chamber of Commerce, Garland Downtown Business Association, and Baylor Hospital at Garland where he was chairman for 6 years. He has also volunteered time to various committees for Garland Chamber of Commerce, City of Garland, and their church. His hobbies include golf, so as to maintain the swing that helped him earn his way onto the Baylor baseball team where he started in the outfield all four years and onto the 1975 Pan American Games Baseball team, which won a silver medal in Mexico City.

Stacey joined our firm in January, 2005. She has extensive experience in general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, payroll processing and payroll reporting. She began working in the accounting field in 1996 in Jonesboro, Arkansas when she took a position working as a receptionist for a small CPA firm. She soon developed an interest in the accounting process and quickly worked her way from receptionist to full charge bookkeeper. Over the years, Stacey has become very knowledgeable of various accounting software packages and has been deemed a "QuickBooks Whiz". When new clients join our firm and wish to use QuickBooks, we strongly recommend they book an appointment with her to assist in the setup and overall use of the software.

Stacey moved to Garland,Texas in 2000 when she married the love of her life, Doug. She is a proud step-mother and grandmother. In her spare time, Stacey loves to go antique shopping and has acquired quite a large collection of cookie jars. Other interests include classic television shows, with a special interest in The Andy Griffith Show as that is how she met her husband.

Alicia joined our firm in August, 2017. She has experience in general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, payroll processing, and payroll reporting. Her first job in the accounting industry was in 2008 as a receptionist for a small CPA firm. Since then, she has worked her way up and is now a full charge bookkeeper. In the spring of 2019, she completed all course work and graduated with a degree in accounting. She enjoys the diversity of clients which allows her to become knowledgeable in the many varied industries of our clients.

Alicia has lived in the Dallas area since 1994 with her family, which consists of two daughters and a dog, Oreo. The two daughters keep her extremely busy with their various after-school activities. When she can find time for herself, she enjoys eating out, going to the movies, and reading.

Jaimie joined the firm in January, 2018 as an administrative assistant. She has held this position for various companies for the past 7 years. An extra benefit for her various employers since 2013 has been her ability to support other staff members in Quickbooks. One aspect of her job that she really enjoys is the interaction with clients during their office visits. She has worked various positions from staff support to management, from retail to the service industry.

Jaimie and her husband, Brad, moved to Texas from Iowa in late 2007. They still have family and friends in Iowa and make it back to visit yearly. Jaimie and Brad have a love for the mountains, camping, and their two dogs, Jazzy and Toby.
